We value your voice: 2019 Values in Practice employee engagement survey

Update: Aug. 6, 2019

The final response rate numbers are in...

Many thanks to over 8,500 VIPs who participated by sharing their voice in the July Values in Practice employee engagement survey!

The engagement results dashboard will open next Monday, Aug. 12, and managers will receive an email containing access information. Glint will supply roll-up reports by work group available in the dashboard, and to maintain confidentiality, reports will only be provided for groups with more than five responses. If your group has fewer than five people or there are not at least five respondents, the group’s data will roll up into the next level of the organization, and you will receive a guide for managing engagement in small teams.

Platform enhancements:

  • Timely feedback with a real-time dashboard
  • Enhanced reporting with ability to create and track action plans with curated recommendations and coaching resources
  • Integration of actionable goals into the performance management process
  • Consistent quarterly pulse surveys to ensure we're making meaningful progress

The Organizational Development & Training team looks forward to working with managers on action plans.

Remember, more surveys are coming! Quarterly "pulse" surveys will be communicated as they approach.

Just one day after the survey launch, 16% of UT Southwestern employees have participated! You can take the survey anywhere you're able to access your UT Southwestern email – even on your phone over your lunch break.

Teams across campus are getting involved in administering the survey. Human Resources team members Dora Trevino and Margarita Garcia helped test the survey in Spanish (the survey is also available in Chinese).

Public Safety Officer Quentin Booker and Animal Care Supervisor Monya Mathis (not pictured) manned the Employee Advisory Council table on South Campus to encourage employees to take the survey – and handed out a little candy.

We value your voice

The UT Southwestern Values in Practice (VIP) employee engagement survey will launch on Monday, July 15.

The new engagement survey is called Values in Practice (VIP) because we want your feedback on how well we are living out the UT Southwestern values – excellence, innovation, teamwork, and compassion – in everyday practice. Our partnership with Glint, an engagement consulting firm, provides a robust way to more continuously listen to your feedback through quarterly pulse surveys, so we can make UT Southwestern the best possible place to work.

We value your voice, so please participate

On Monday, July 15, Glint will email all regular, nonfaculty employees on behalf of UT Southwestern. (The subject line will say UT Southwestern wants your feedback – July Engagement Survey – Due 7/26.) Simply click the Get Started button in the email to begin your survey.

Important survey features:

  • Responses are completely confidential (while UTSW has visibility to overall response rates, there is absolutely no individual information regarding who has responded and who has not).
  • Take 5-7 minutes to complete.
  • Available in English, Spanish, and Chinese.
  • Questions mapped to the UTSW core values.
  • Can be accessed via computer, phone, and select kiosks set up at the Facilities Management Building and CUH Hospital Services department locations.
  • Benchmarked to other academic medical centers.

Please complete the survey! Your voice is essential to continuing to make UTSW a great place to work and build a career.

If you have any questions, please read the FAQ and/or EmployeeEngagement@UTSouthwestern.edu the survey team.

Taking action based on your feedback

Within only weeks of the survey closing on July 26, Glint will supply roll-up reports by work group available in the Glint dashboard for managers (mid-August). To maintain confidentiality, reports will only be provided for groups with more than five responses. If your group has fewer than five people or there are not at least five respondents, the group’s data will roll up into the next level of the organization.

We will update this page periodically with overall survey response rates, along with information for managers, including dashboard training schedule (Aug. 12-15), action planning guide, resources for small teams, and much more – all to successfully empower leaders to drive increased engagement in their unique areas.
