The goal of the Neuroscience Research Development (NeRD) Associate Training (NeAT) program is to provide a hands-on learning experience in research development

NeAT program goals:

  • Develop an understanding of the grant or manuscript development process by helping another researcher with their project
  • Utilization and development of transferable skills
  • Participate in team science and collaboration to complete project goals

Program details:

  • Any UTSW employee can apply
  • Commitment of up to seven to eight hours a week for four weeks
  • The training will start once a suitable project has been identified within the academic year
  • Trainees can choose a grant project or a writing project
  • Compensation will not be provided to trainees
  • Trainees must ensure that participation in the NeAT program will not interfere with their employment or academic obligations

To be considered, submit by July 26 a single PDF document containing:

  • Resume
  • Cover letter that explains your reason for applying to the training program, a brief description of your qualifications, and your expectations of the program
  • One writing sample (scientific is preferred, but can be non-scientific)
