Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

UT Southwestern Medical Center supports a quality animal care and use program to support faculty who use animals in research, testing, or teaching. This program assures that all animal use adheres to applicable requirements such as:

• Animal Welfare Act (AWA)
• Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (Guide)
• Public Health Service Policy
• U.S. Government Principles Regarding the Care and Use of Animals

The University has a letter of assurance on file with the Public Health Service, is registered as a research facility with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and also is certified by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).
