Dr. Jonathan Cohen, associate professor of internal medicine in the Center for Human Nutrition, has been named holder of the C. Vincent Prothro Distinguished Chair in Human Nutrition Research.
Dr. Cohen's work focuses on genetics and the genetic determinants of plasma lipoprotein levels.
Dr. Cohen joined UT Southwestern in 1989 as a postdoctoral fellow and completed fellowships in the Center for Human Nutrition and in molecular genetics. He joined the faculty in 1991.
Dr. William Kovacs, professor of internal medicine, has been named to the Diana and Richard C. Strauss Professorship in Biomedical Research.
Dr. Kovacs joined the division of endocrinology in July as the director of clinical services in endocrinology. He also directs the fellowship training program in endocrinology and metabolism.
Prior to joining the UT Southwestern faculty, he was professor of molecular physiology and biophysics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
Dr. Robert F. Reilly Jr., professor of internal medicine, has been named holder of the Fredric L. Coe Professorship in Nephrolithiasis Research in Mineral Metabolism.
Dr. Reilly joined UT Southwestern last summer and is a staff physician at the Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Prior to that, he served as an associate professor in the nephrology section at Yale University School of Medicine. He joined Yale as a nephrology fellow in 1985 and was named an assistant professor.
He was an associate professor at the University of Colorado Health Science Center from 1997 to 2000 before returning to Yale.
