Dr. Robin Jarrett, professor of psychiatry, has been named holder of the Elizabeth H. Penn Professorship in Clinical Psychology.
Internationally known for her research in short-term psychotherapy and depression, Dr. Jarrett specializes in mood disorders and has served as director of UT Southwestern's psychosocial research and depression clinic since 1989. The National Institute of Mental Health has funded her group's research continuously since 1989.
In 1999, Dr. Jarrett, a licensed clinical psychologist, was named a founding fellow of the international Academy of Cognitive Therapy, and in 2000 she was awarded a fellowship as a Fourjay Scholar at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy.
Dr. Madhukar Trivedi, professor of psychiatry and director of the mood disorders research program and clinic at UT Southwestern, has been named holder of the Lydia Bryant Test Professorship in Psychiatric Research.
Dr. Trivedi, who joined UT Southwestern as a research fellow in 1990 and was named to the medical center's faculty in 1993, specializes in research for the treatment of depression. He has been principal investigator in multiple clinical trials and currently serves as co-director of the 6-year-old Sequenced Treatment Alternatives to Relieve Depression project, the largest depression trial of its kind with more than 4,000 participants at more than a dozen U.S. sites.
