Faculty Appointments — Drs. Ansari, Winkler
M. Qasim Ansari, M.D., recently joined the UT Southwestern faculty as a professor of pathology. Dr. Ansari has previously been a fellow, instructor, assistant professor and associate professor at UT Southwestern, as well as an associate professor of pathology and director of immunopathology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Most recently he was medical director for Quest Diagnostics Inc. in Houston.
Dr. Ansari received his medical degree from Dow Medical College in Pakistan. He completed his residency in pathology at Baylor in Houston and a fellowship in immunopathology at UT Southwestern. His research interests include immunopathology and hematopathology, the branch of pathology that deals with diseases of the blood.
Wade Winkler, Ph.D., has joined the UT Southwestern faculty as an assistant professor of biochemistry. He previously was a postdoctoral researcher at Yale University. His research focuses on small RNA structures that play a role in regulating the expression of many genes. He also is pursuing the molecular engineering of riboswitches, which have a variety of biomedical applications.
Dr. Winkler earned his Ph.D. in microbiology from Ohio State University and his undergraduate degree in microbiology and molecular biology from the University of Central Florida.
