Individuals who suffer from gout may qualify for a clinical research study in mineral metabolism at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Participants must be at least 21 years of age and have a history of gout. People with uncontrolled hypertension, uncontrolled diabetes, and individuals using insulin therapy are not eligible for the clinical trial. Healthy adults are needed for outpatient studies in mineral metabolism at UT Southwestern. Participants must be 21 years of age or older. Excluded from the study will be individuals who suffer from kidney stones, bowel disease, anemia, cardiovascular disease, or lactose (milk) intolerance. A blood draw for screening is required.
