Nov. 19 talk a memorable JFK event
By Lin Lofley
Dr. Robert McClelland, Professor Emeritus of Surgery, will speak Nov. 19 in the Jones Memorial Lecture Hall (D1.602) under McDermott Plaza regarding events 50 years ago, the day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas.
The program is sponsored by Dr. Michael Choti, Chairman of Surgery, and by the South Campus Library. Dr. Daniel K. Podolsky, President of UT Southwestern Medical Center, is scheduled to introduce the speaker.
“From Memory to History: Reflections on the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy,” is open to the public, with a 5:30 p.m. reception to be followed by the lecture at 6 p.m.
Dr. McClelland, who was scheduled for more than 20 speaking engagements in October and November, said he understands the interest and was prepared for it. “I have no difficulty remembering what happened,” he said, “and I’ve recalled it so often in the interim that I don’t have to strive for that. I might have trouble recalling what I had for breakfast this morning, but I can tell you what I was doing almost hour by hour that day.”
