UTSW website assists HIV/AIDS caregivers
UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Prevention Training Center recently launched a new website that provides online resources for providers serving people with HIV/AIDS.
The Resource Center for Prevention with Persons Living with HIV website, hivpwp.org, is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and includes free online training and educational materials, as well as links to other resources. The site is designed to support the CDC-led HIV Prevention with Positives (PwP) Initiative by bringing together various HIV interest groups to create a coordinated continuum of care.
For physicians who treat HIV patients, UT Southwestern also launched a web-based continuing medical education training course called “The Prevention Benefit of ART for HIV-Infected Patients” that shows how using ART (antiretroviral treatment) to suppress HIV improves health outcomes and dramatically reduces risks of HIV transmission.
The PwP site is part of UT Southwestern’s Community Prevention and Intervention Unit of the School of Health Professions’ Department of Health Care Sciences. To learn more, email email@example.com.
