MEDICAL SCHOOL

1978: Barry L. Shulkin, M.D., M.B.A., has a new position as the vice chairman of the American Board of Nuclear Medicine.

1990: Dick C. Kuo, M.D., recently moved to Pearland, Texas, to join the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston (his hometown) in the department of emergency medicine. He’s beyond happy to be back in the Lone Star State.

1997 and 2001: Meredith Spiekerman Byers, M.D., and Derek Byers, M.D., Ph.D., celebrate the arrival of Ryder Emmett Byers, born July 2. Ryder joins big brother Wyatt, 4, and big sister Shiloh, 20 months. Drs. Byers are happily busy keeping up with three children under 5 years old.

Derek has completed a fellowship in pulmonary/critical care medicine at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He is serving on the faculty in the pulmonary division as he pur­sues an academic career in lung transplant medicine.

Meredith works part time as a radiologist with Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology and WUSM, specializing in body imaging and women’s imaging.
