Plaza named in honor of Seldin

UT Southwestern recently announced that the main South Campus plaza has been named the Dr. Donald Seldin Plaza, in honor of Donald Seldin, M.D., UT Southwestern Professor and Chairman Emeritus of Internal Medicine, UT System Professor of Internal Medicine, and the William Buchanan Chair in Internal Medicine.

The plaza will be renovated to correct structural deficiencies, improve pedestrian safety, and provide a more direct handicapped-accessible route to the South Campus.

The Dr. Donald Seldin Plaza is located between the faculty and staff parking garages and the Visitor Information Center. The new plaza walkway will have ramps and steps for pedestrians. New trees, shrubs, and ground cover will be installed, along with concrete retaining walls and handrails to create steps.

Full coverage of Dr. Seldin’s notable career and plaza plans will be in the June/July issue of Center Times.
