Assistant Professor Kareem AbdelFattah, M.D., has been named the director of the general surgery residency program, making him one of the youngest program directors in the country.

Dr. AbdelFattah received his medical degree at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, and completed his residency and a fellowship in burns, trauma, and critical care at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Association for Surgery and Trauma. He specializes in trauma and critical care surgery and general surgery.

Dr. AbdelFattah’s goal for the residency program is to train reliable, compassionate surgeons that other surgeons look to when they need assistance.

Dr. AbdelFattah will head the residency program with Associate Directors Abier Abdelnaby, M.D., and Deborah Farr, M.D., and Clerkship Director Rohit Sharma, M.D.
