Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship

Established in 1999, the UT Southwestern Medical Center breast care fellowship program was the first pilot fellowship program to benefit from a Komen Foundation Fellowship Grant. We offer a dynamic, one-year, interdisciplinary training program that includes a four- to five-month rotation in the fellow’s area of specialty, as well as one-month rotations in other areas, including breast imaging, medical oncology, pathology, plastic surgery, radiation oncology, surgery, research, genetics, and psycho-oncology.

UT Southwestern ranks among the top academic medical centers in the nation and our fellows train with some of the nation's leaders in breast disease diagnosis and treatment.

Facilities

The primary site for training is the UT Southwestern Center for Breast Care, a component of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Harold C. Simmons Cancer Center at UT Southwestern. The outpatient facilities for the UT Southwestern Center for Breast Care are located on the third floor of the Seay Biomedical Building. The Seay building includes the presence of a dedicated breast MRI system and offers a convenient setting for diagnostic evaluation, medical treatment, genetic counseling and cancer risk assessment, psychosocial support, high-risk patient monitoring, and many other important services for cancer patients.

Fellows also train at Parkland Memorial Hospital, the major adult teaching facility for UT Southwestern.
