Clinical Research
The Department of Psychiatry’s faculty engages in a broad range of clinical research studies in many areas of psychiatry and psychology. Our research studies comprise diverse approaches, such as investigations of neurobiological and neuroendocrine processes, brain imaging, and pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatments.
Intervention and services research in the Department examines which treatments in what order or combination are safe, effective or indicated for various mental disorders. It also includes studies to establish which policies, practices or procedures are most cost effective or produce the best outcomes for particular patients or disorders.
Faculty members and researchers are board certified by professional organizations such as the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Psychological Association. Experienced clinicians in nursing and social work are also key members of each team.
