UT Southwestern has made an institution-wide commitment to training research-oriented residents. The Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern is focused on producing exceptional researchers in its Resident Research Track Program.
With our diverse and extensive faculty, the Department of Psychiatry is in a unique position to prepare residents for successful academic research careers. Available faculty mentors provide opportunities in basic, clinical, and translational research. Close connections with many other departments in UT Southwestern Medical School and UT Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences provide the framework for a variety of areas of scientific investigation.
There is considerable reserved research time for the Research Track resident, including:
- Attendance at the core didactic during your second year
- Two full-time selective research months in your second year
- Two full days per week in your third year
- Three-and-a-half days per week in your fourth year
