Psychiatric Residents Organization

Our active Psychiatry Residents Organization (PRO) runs many programs, including "Big Siblings," social activities, a weekly lunch meeting, a yearly retreat day, and a regular movie night.

The Psychiatry Residents Organization was formed in 1981 to:

  • Promote camaraderie among the residents as a group and provide support for individual residents.
  • Aid in the dissemination of information pertinent to residents.
  • Help facilitate communication between residents and faculty/administration.
  • Provide an open forum for consideration and discussion of issues and problems facing psychiatric residents.

PRO includes all full-time and part-time residents. Officers are elected annually and luncheon meetings are held weekly, immediately after Psychiatry Grand Rounds. Issues discussed at the PRO meetings and other pertinent information is shared in a weekly email to all residents.

Speakers are invited regularly to discuss and/or present specific topics.

In order to enhance communication between residents and faculty/administration, both the Chair and the Residency Training Director regularly attend PRO meetings to make announcements, field questions, and address current issues.

PRO also organizes a number of social and educational events for its members throughout the year.
