Psychiatric Residents Organization
Our active Psychiatry Residents Organization (PRO) runs many programs, including "Big Siblings," social activities, a weekly lunch meeting, a yearly retreat day, and a regular movie night.
The PRO was formed in 1981 to:
- Promote camaraderie among the residents as a group and provide support for individual residents.
- Aid in the dissemination of information pertinent to residents.
- Help facilitate communication between residents and faculty/administration.
- Provide an open forum for consideration and discussion of issues and problems facing psychiatric residents.
PRO includes all full-time and part-time psychiatry residents. Officers are elected annually and luncheon meetings are held weekly, immediately after Grand Rounds. Issues discussed at the PRO meetings and other pertinent information is shared in a weekly email to all residents.
Speakers are invited regularly to discuss and/or present specific topics.
In order to enhance communication between residents and faculty/administration, both the Chair and the Residency Training Director come regularly to PRO meetings to make announcements, field questions, and address current issues.
PRO also organizes a number of social and educational events for its members throughout the year.
