Psychiatric Residents Organization

Our active Psychiatry Residents Organization (PRO) runs many programs including Families, social activities, a monthly lunch meeting with speakers, the Resident Lounge Snack Bar, and a regular movie night.

The Psychiatry Residents Organization was formed in 1981 to:

  • Promote camaraderie among the residents as a group and provide support for individual residents.
  • Aid in the dissemination of information pertinent to residents.
  • Help facilitate communication between residents and faculty/administration.
  • Provide an open forum for consideration and discussion of issues and problems facing psychiatric residents.

PRO includes all full-time and part-time residents. The PGY-3 Class Representatives serve as PRO Presidents.

PRO manages our Families system. Families are groups of PGY-1s, 2s, 3s, and 4s with two attending mentors. Families meet once a quarter during didactics and twice a year for social events. Families serve to increase contact between the classes and to give residents a mentor contact outside of their clinical sites.
