The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center has initiated a search for an Assistant Professor (Nontenured Research) to fill the role of Research Director in the Department of Plastic Surgery.
The responsibilities of the Research Director include the direction and administration of the Departmental research efforts, including both independent research as well as facilitating plastic surgery faculty research and mentorship of students and residents. Candidates will also maintain and direct core laboratory facilities and technical and research coordinator staff. This position will be expected to develop independent research efforts including both grant and industry-sponsored research in the areas pertinent to plastic surgery, including but not limited to adipose tissue biology, adipose derived stem cells, regenerative medicine, composite tissue allograft research, and innovative therapies in wound healing. The Research Director will also provide oversight and mentorship of Departmental clinical faculty in development and design of research projects and budgets, direct staff effort during project execution, and aid in data analyses, publication of research studies, and grant writing. Candidates must also have a firm commitment to the education of fellows, residents, and medical students, as well as have their Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or a related field and at least three years of postdoctoral research experience and an outstanding record of research productivity.
