Education and Training

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center plays a significant role in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Medical Students – Away Rotation

Our Department invites medical students to join us for a four-week away rotation. Any student who has completed his or her general surgery rotation is qualified to apply for an away rotation. Students who participate in an away rotation will have the opportunity to work with faculty and residents at Clements University Hospital, Parkland Hospital, and/or Children's Medical Center. At all three hospitals, students will see both pre- and postoperative patients in outpatient clinics where they will learn about the day-to-day management of otolaryngology patient care. In addition, they will assist on hospital rounds and in the operating room. For more information, please contact us: OTOeducation@utsouthwestern.edu

Residency Program

The Otolaryngology Residency Program is one of the premier training programs in the country. The heart of our Residency Program is the busy, well-rounded clinical experience with an emphasis on the surgical management of the otolaryngologic disease. Our residents and faculty are a diverse group of people who share a common passion for providing the best care for our patients. We invite interested applicants to join us for a one-month elective rotation.

Fellowships

Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery offers four clinical fellowship programs (ACGME and Texas Medical Board-accredited) for U.S. and international fellows.
