General Internal Medicine
The mission of the William T. and Gay F. Solomon Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) is to provide excellence in patient care, research, and education. Led by Ethan Halm, MD, MPH, General Internal Medicine is the largest clinical-care division at UT Southwestern and has more than 70 full-time faculty.
GIM physicians care for outpatients at the James W. Aston Ambulatory Care Center, at UT Southwestern University Hospital-St. Paul, and at Parkland Memorial Hospital's Center for Internal Medicine. The division's faculty also provide inpatient care and medical consultations at University Hospital–St. Paul, Parkland Hospital, and UT Southwestern University Hospital–Zale Lipshy.
Division faculty play key leadership roles in medical student and resident education, and spearhead UT Southwestern outcomes, health services, quality of care, and geriatrics research programs. GIM faculty also participate in clinical and educational activities at the Dallas VA Medical Center.
