Union Gospel Mission Smoking Cessation Clinic

Union Gospel Mission (UGM) is a faith-based organization that provides shelter, education, medical care and other transitional support for homeless individuals throughout DFW. Their two main shelter locations are
Center of Hope (serving women and children) and Calvert Place (serving men 18+).

Union Gospel Mission Smoking Cessation Clinics

The goal of the student-run Smoking Cessation Clinics at UGM is to reduce smoking and nicotine use among residents of homeless shelters. Students provide weekly presentations and group discussions about the harms of smoking and nicotine use. After class, students meet with each resident and come up with an individualized plan for smoking cessation. Residents are provided with nicotine replacement therapy in the form of gums, lozenges, and patches.

  • Calvert Place - every Wednesday, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
  • Center of Hope - every Tuesday, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

“...seeing how organized and effective the program was, and how motivated the patient participants were to learn and change their habits was my favorite aspect about working with the clinic. ”
