Clinical Staff Assistant III
Dermatology

First UTSW job: I was hired to work in the Department of Dermatology in 1993.

Best part of my job: Interacting with and helping our patients – I have been in Dermatology my whole time here at UT Southwestern and have built relationships with our longtime patients. The many friends I have made – we are all a work family. I also enjoy working with the doctors and residents and continually learning.

How co-workers describe me: Dependable – staff, doctors, and management know if they give me something to do, it will get done. Patient, kind, and helpful – I always have a smile on my face and I’m willing to help with anyone or anything. I really never say no.

Funny memory: On my first day at UTSW on April 1, 1993, a Dermatology employee told me I didn’t have a job. The Department wasn’t hiring. I had a puzzled look on my face, and she said, “April fools! Welcome to Dermatology!”

Final note: I’m amazed at how much the Dermatology Department has grown – from the sixth floor of the James W. Aston Ambulatory Care Center to Clinical Building 1 (which no longer exists) to the fourth floor of POB 2. UTSW in general has grown so much here on the main campus and throughout the Metroplex.
