First UTSW job: I started working in Apple computer support in 1987. Best part of my job: I enjoy working with research teams and aiding in their work as well as being on the leading edge of technology for research.

Unusual memory: My favorite UT Southwestern moment was the Nobel Prize campus celebration for the late Dr. Alfred Gilman. I was actually late getting to it and all the doors were shut and the speeches had begun. I didn’t really want to go in late and disrupt things, so I strategized how I was going to get in when I noticed someone who also looked to be in the same boat. So I approached him to see how he was thinking about getting in. When he turned around, I discovered it was the keynote speaker – George W. Bush, who was Texas Governor-elect at the time. So he and I sat outside together and talked for about 15 or 20 minutes before he went in to speak.

Final note: I’m looking forward to the opening of the UT Southwestern time capsule in 2020.
