UTSW Unscripted is a compelling mini docuseries that highlights the authentic, unvarnished stories of UT Southwestern’s physicians and researchers. Each episode offers an intimate look at their personal and professional journeys, illustrating the passion and purpose that led these people to UTSW.

Growing up in a family of scientists, Vice Provost and Dean of Basic Research Joan W. Conaway, Ph.D., was inspired early on by the thrill of discovery and the idea that women could pursue anything they dreamed of. Together with her husband and research partner, Ron, she built a career marked by groundbreaking discoveries, deep collaboration, and a lab that became like family. Today at UT Southwestern, she continues to shape the future of science – not just through her own research, but by championing and supporting the work of others.
