A breath of new life for rare lung disease patient

Following a quadruple cardiac bypass surgery eight years ago in Amarillo, Texas, Dan Dudley did not recover as expected. He thought his short-windedness was part of a normal aging process. After three bouts of pneumonia and a blood clot in his lungs, his condition worsened, leading to care at UT Southwestern. Mr. Dudley was diagnosed with a rare disease called chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.
