Jin Ye, Ph.D.: 30 Years

Jin Ye, Ph.D.

Professor
Department of Molecular Genetics

First UTSW job: My introduction to the institution was as a graduate student, earning my Ph.D. in cell regulation in 2000. I then stayed on for a postdoctoral fellowship and joined the faculty as Assistant Professor in 2004.

Best part about my job: Every day brings new challenges.

How co-workers describe me: Loyal to UT Southwestern. Not only have I worked at the same institution for three decades, but my son, James Ye, also graduated from here with an M.D./Ph.D. in May and is continuing his education through the Internal Medicine Physician Scientist Training Program.

My proudest UTSW accomplishment: Continuing my research on lipid metabolism for more than three decades.

Hobbies: Traveling and gardening.
