Vera Campbell: 30 Years

Vera Campbell

GME Program Coordinator III
Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology

First UTSW job: Administrative Assistant in the Department of Internal Medicine’s Division of Cardiology.

Best part about my job: I have deeply valued the friendships I have built over the past three decades, many of which continue to be among my most cherished.

How co-workers describe me: They often describe me as loyal, hardworking, and jovial, with a personality that makes me enjoyable to be around.

Best UTSW memory: Once, when I worked in a lab at the old Parkland Memorial Hospital, I became so lost navigating the corridors. I eventually found my way back to my destination. From that day forward, I never got lost again.

My proudest UTSW accomplishment: In 2018, I was honored to be the recipient of the esteemed Donald W. Seldin Award for Outstanding Service – an achievement that remains a career highlight. In a meaningful twist of fate, my current office is located directly across from that once used by the late Dr. Seldin, the renowned “intellectual father of UT Southwestern.”

Hobbies: I enjoy spending time with my family and pets, which feels like heaven at the end of the workday. I am also passionate about discovering new destinations, particularly visiting Florida beaches in the summer, and I unapologetically enjoy a bit of retail therapy along the way.

Final note: My entire tenure at UTSW has been within Internal Medicine and Cardiology, where we have developed a camaraderie unlike any other. The physicians and staff are among the finest individuals I have had the pleasure of working alongside, and loving where I work has made my role all the more fulfilling and enjoyable.
