Kimberley Avila: 30 Years
Senior Research Associate
Hamon Center for Therapeutic Oncology Research
First UTSW job: My first job was working on the Human Genome Project in the Eugene McDermott Center for Human Growth and Development.
Best part about my job: I get to do scientific research and meet people from many different backgrounds worldwide.
How co-workers describe me: They would probably call me outgoing and helpful because I assist everyone in the lab with their projects.
Best UTSW memories: I have many great memories from UT Southwestern, but my top three would probably be the Hamon Center baby shower for my daughter, the unique solar eclipse party, and all the holiday parties.
My proudest UTSW accomplishment: Getting published in scientific journals.
I’m really good at: I am very good at being a mom to three great kids.
Hobbies: Gardening, arts and crafts, and spending time with my family and dogs.
Surprising fact: I enjoy completing jigsaw puzzles and framing them.
Final note: I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the UT Southwestern community.
