Jay Horton, M.D.: 30 Years

Jay Horton, M.D.

Director of the Center for Human Nutrition
Professor, Departments of Internal Medicine and Molecular Genetics

First UTSW job: Internal medicine intern in 1988.

Best part about my job: Every day is different.

How co-workers describe me: I think most would say I am fair and not selfish.

Best UTSW memory: Starting the Internal Medicine Physician Scientist Training Program and seeing the participants grow into independent faculty.

My proudest UTSW accomplishment: Characterization of the function of the protein PCSK9, which led to the development of inhibitor drugs to lower blood cholesterol levels.

Hobbies: I have a hobby farm where I garden.

Surprising fact: I have three horses and 10 miniature donkeys.
