Ann Tate: 30 Years
Director of General Services
Facilities Management
First UTSW job: I was a graduate intern for Auxiliary Services. I created an annual report for the department, and when I graduated, I was asked to join the Budget and Payroll office.
Best part about my job: The people I work with are the best part of my job. My counterparts and my co-workers are the reasons I have stayed at UT Southwestern for 30 years. The environment is good, but the people are great!
How co-workers describe me: They would describe me as a person of integrity who is committed to advocating for the interests of the team and department. Some would say I lead by example and create an environment with high expectations, where staff feel supported, heard, and empowered. Finally, they would say I am committed to developing and creating opportunities for others to grow and achieve their goals.
Best UTSW memory: I have a lot of happy memories – but the most unusual or funniest are best kept to myself.
My proudest UTSW accomplishment: Helping others see their potential and reach their goals gives me the most satisfaction. That’s something that lives on well beyond someone’s time with UT Southwestern. You never know how far the smallest ripples may go.
I’m really good at: Logic problems. It may sound weird, but that’s how my brain works.
Hobbies: I love traveling with friends, cooking, doing Pilates, and just making the most of every day.
