Claudia Werner, M.D.: 35 years

Employee Recognition 35 years, Claudia Werner, M.D., Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

First UTSW job: I joined the Ob/Gyn Department in 1989 as a part-time faculty member. I was tasked with supervising outlying family planning clinics that provided obstetric and contraceptive care. As I transitioned to a full-time faculty role, I took on staffing in the gynecology clinic, operating room, and labor and delivery service.

Best part about my job: I love the people I work with and the wonderful patients we serve. I am inspired every day by how people handle adversity and misfortune in their lives. I have learned so much from my UTSW and Parkland Memorial Hospital colleagues and patients, and I am humbled by their wisdom and strength.

How co-workers describe me: Committed to patient care. I also possess a strange serious/silly sense of humor mix.

My proudest UTSW accomplishment: I have worked with 100% effort as a clinician at UTSW and Parkland. I am extremely fortunate and proud to have spent my career here. In particular, I have enjoyed working on cervical cancer prevention efforts for the past 25 years.
