Bruce Alan Musgrove: 30 years

Technical Support Specialist III
Facilities Management, General Services
First UTSW job: Radiation Safety Lab Manager.
Best part about my job: The personnel I work with. They are down-to-earth, blue-collar tradespeople who are easy to relate to, just like my extended family.
How co-workers describe me: Always willing to help with any request, even those outside of my field of expertise.
Best UTSW memory: My best memory is meeting my wife of 30 years.
My proudest UTSW accomplishment: The first that comes to mind would be the repair of a vital piece of research equipment I had never seen before. This saved several researchers and departments considerable amounts of money versus having to replace the broken equipment.
I’m really good at: Intuitive troubleshooting of systems I am unfamiliar with. If I can learn a general idea of how something works, I can usually find the problem and fix it. This ability has helped me save many pieces of expensive lab equipment.
Hobbies: Reading and watching sci-fi fantasy books and films. I also like to go antiquing with my wife and daughter.
Surprising fact: I have four aquariums: one saltwater and three freshwater aquariums. In the saltwater one I keep a variety of coral reef fish and clownfish. In the freshwater tanks, I have several species of tropical fish, including a longfin bristlenose pleco, a small tropical catfish that I breed for sale to aquarium shops.
Final note: I have evolved professionally at UTSW to my current position providing IT support in Facilities Management. Although my job does not directly affect patient care, our team supports the infrastructure needed to keep the institution going. I look forward to what the future holds.
