Laura Lacritz, Ph.D.

Professor
Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology

First UTSW job: I started at UT Southwestern as a graduate student in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program in 1990.

Best part about my job: I love the people I work with and opportunities to make a positive daily impact in the lives of patients, trainees, and co-workers.

How co-workers describe me: They would say I’m busy! I wear multiple hats and always have a lot of balls in the air, but that’s what makes work fun and exciting. Every day is different.

My proudest UTSW accomplishment: I was so honored to receive the Leaders in Clinical Excellence Award in Mentoring in 2024 and proud to have contributed to the training of so many wonderful neuropsychologists.

I’m really good at: I am somewhat of an orchid whisperer. I can get the flowers to rebloom for years.

Hobbies: I love to cook and entertain. It is not uncommon for me to be up late at night cooking for a dinner party or planning menus for family events.

Surprising fact: People might be surprised to know that I have a whistle so loud it can stop traffic ... or quiet a room if need be.

Final note: UT Southwestern is like a family or home for me. I can’t imagine working anywhere else. I especially value the professional relationships, trainees, and opportunities to grow and learn every day.
