Yu-Guang He, M.D.

Professor
Department of Ophthalmology

First UTSW job: Visiting Research Assistant Professor.

Best part about my job: My patients and my co-workers. Every day I come to work, it feels like I’m spending time with family and friends.

My proudest UTSW accomplishment: I’m proud to be the longest-serving retinal specialist still practicing at UT Southwestern – since 2001. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of training hundreds of ophthalmology residents and more than 40 retinal specialists.

I’m really good at: Swimming outside in cold weather, a habit I’ve kept up for over 20 years.

Hobbies: Yoga and swimming.

Surprising fact: I became an ophthalmologist, even though that wasn’t my intended career path. Originally, I wanted to be a transplant surgeon.

Final note: What’s kept me at UTSW all these years is simple: the people I work with.
