PAS Intake Specialist
Outpatient Breast Imaging Support

First UTSW job: I started in 1994 as a Patient Care Technician at the former St. Paul Hospital. Then when UT Southwestern took over, I began working as a Secretary for the telemetry units.

Best part about my job: What I like most is meeting the variety of beautiful people on the phone, the happy, sad, mean, lonely, appreciative, and even the ungrateful, and to be able to turn the sadness to joy, the loneliness to friendliness, and the ungratefulness to thankfulness. To know I made a difference in someone’s day is rewarding.

How co-workers describe me: Exceptional, compassionate, and passionate. One colleague said I have an unwavering commitment to delivering outstanding patient care, providing vital information and support every step of the way. Another describes me as calm and attentive, able to maintain my composure in difficult situations.

My proudest UTSW accomplishment: It would be my inner personal growth overall. Learning to appreciate the little things in life. The true value of love, life, teamwork, and communication.

I’m really good at: I love to create a new dish when time allows with my granddaughter.

Hobbies: I work with the local organization Help Feed Your Brother to feed the homeless. I also enjoy teaching Bible study and singing with our praise team.

Surprising fact: Anyone who knew me before 2020, including my family and friends who are still adjusting, would be extremely surprised to know that I now wear pink and that my office is full of pink as well.

Final note: On June 15, my husband and I will celebrate 25 years of marriage. We have three boys: Trumaine; Caston, a U.S. Navy Lieutenant; and Kenneth, a Navy veteran. We also have seven grandchildren. Also, I was ordained in 2018, have served as a Hospice Chaplain PRN since 2021, and earned my bachelor’s degree in theology in 2023.
