This is Bruce, and he has a message for you
Bruce is a 5-month-old golden retriever/black Labrador mix – “aka a bundle of energy,” said his owner, Nora-Guadalupe Ramirez, a Graduate Student Researcher in Microbiology. In fact, he couldn’t wait to share how excited he is about being part of the 2018 State Employee Charitable Campaign.
Here’s how he’s participating: The Department of Microbiology wanted to get everyone involved in raising money for the campaign, so they’re holding a department pet photo contest. Employees in the department submitted their best pet photos (including this chompy portrait of Bruce), and the department has been invited to vote for their favorites (along with making a $1-per-ballot donation to the campaign). The best photos will win a prize – dog and cat toys, treats, and more – for the pet photographers.
This is the department’s second year holding this contest as part of the SECC – an idea hatched by Sarah Chambers, Senior Administrative Assistant with the Department.
“I just know people are crazy about animals – and competition – so I figured this was an optimal way to raise money for the campaign,” Ms. Chambers said.
What is your department crazy about? Maybe it’s food – host a pizza or ice cream party. Maybe you know a few people who love crafting – get creating and hold a silent auction. Or maybe you’re prone to pranking each other – try flamingo flocking, last year’s hottest activity.
No matter what you do, know that it’s for a good cause and will contribute to showing UT Southwestern’s value of compassion. Visit the 2018 State Employee Charitable Campaign page on MyUTSW for more information.
