Dr. Williams recognized for oral presentation at SSIB conference

Dr. Kevin Williams, Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, was awarded the Timothy J. Bartness Award in July at the Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior (SSIB) annual meeting in Utrecht, Netherlands.

The award is given for the best oral presentation by a junior faculty member at the meeting, in honor of Dr. Timothy J. Bartness, who was a Regent’s Professor of Biology at Georgia State University and researcher of the neural control of adipose tissue, obesity, and ingestive behavior.

It is a true honor to be associated with Tim,” Dr. Williams said. “I am very humbled.

Dr. Williams received a plaque and a monetary prize of $750. His presentation covered recent work on the effects of exercise on neurons in the brain that control food intake, body weight, and blood glucose levels.
