UTSW employee receives national Patient Access Collaborative award

Robin Van Marter, Assistant Director, Centralized Patient Access Services, is a winner of the Patient Access Collaborative’s Access Emerging Leader of the Year award.
“Robin has consistently demonstrated exceptional promise and impactful leadership in the field of patient access, making a profound difference within UT Southwestern Medical Center,” wrote her nominators, Jennifer Ward, M.B.A., CLSSBB, Director, Patient Access Services, and Kory Termine, M.H.S.A., CMPE, Assistant Vice President, Centralized Patient Access Services. “Her exemplary communication skills, problem-solving acumen, and positive attitude under pressure set a high standard for leadership within our organization.”
Since 2011, the Patient Access Collaborative has provided a forum for the nation’s largest and most prestigious health systems to discuss and advance initiatives that can vastly improve patient access to ambulatory care.
Ms. Van Marter, who has been with UT Southwestern for five years, helps provide strategic and operational support to ensure her department delivers efficient, high quality, positive patient experiences.
“There’s so much that I enjoy in my day-to-day, but if I had to narrow it down to a few things, it would be these: solving problems through process improvement, digging into potential issues, coming up with solutions, and making a positive impact,” she said. “I also enjoy developing leadership skills in others and watching them grow professionally. Our department has more than tripled in size during my time here, and I’m truly proud of the work we all do every day. I’m incredibly thankful for this recognition and feel so fortunate to work with such inspiring and supportive leaders.”
The Patient Access Collaborative’s invitation-only community of 128 health systems consists of nearly 4,000 patient access leaders from academic health systems, children’s hospitals, and cancer centers from across the nation.
