School of Health Professions students named NHSC SP scholars

NHSC SP scholars

Two UT Southwestern School of Health Professions students, Ana Archila and Luis Rodriguez, were named National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program (NHSC SP) scholars.

“This is an amazing scholarship program and a great opportunity for all future medical providers who want to work with underserved communities,” said Mr. Rodriguez, who graduates in 2019 from the Physician Assistant Studies program.

The Scholarship Program provides funding for education and a monthly stipend to students pursuing a career in primary care health professions. In return, scholars commit to provide primary care health services to communities with limited access to care.

“I am thankful for the NHSC,” said Ms. Archila (Physician Assistant Studies, Class of 2020). “They made my goals of promoting child well-being, patient advocacy, and preventive health care in underserved areas that much more attainable.”
