Honoring MLK’s legacy of service

2025 MLK Fest BANNER — UT Southwestern volunteers gather for a photo before participating in community service in honor of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.

Nearly 100 UT Southwestern community members united on Jan. 11 to honor civil rights leader the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., who dedicated his life to serving others. These participants joined others who assembled into a “clean team,” traveling the streets of Dallas’ historic Fair Park district to beautify the area. Hosted by The Walls Project, the annual MLK Fest DFW brought thousands of volunteers together to support, empower, and leave a lasting impact on the community.

Gloves, hats, and hand warmers are available at an outdoor booth staffed by UTSW’s Office for Institutional Opportunity at the event.

UTSW also offers free T-shirts for volunteers participating in the cleanup project.
