Physicians in UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Comprehensive Obstetrics and Gynecology Program strive to develop long-term relationships with their patients through many years of quality patient care. State-of-the-art comprehensive women's health care is available from this team.
Every woman is encouraged to have an annual well-woman exam by a gynecologist. At UT Southwestern, gynecologists and nurse practitioners provide expert evaluation and treatment services in a comfortable environment.
Gynecology and well-woman services include:
- Routine annual well-woman evaluation (breast and pelvic physical exams, Pap smear, and other laboratory and imaging studies as needed);
- Counseling on issues of contraceptive selection and use, and HPV vaccinations for adolescents and young adults;
- Assessment and management of pelvic infections, endometriosis and other common as well as complex problems of the female urinary and reproductive tracts;
- Management and treatment options for menstrual problems like heavy bleeding and PMS;
- Pregnancy confirmation;
- Management and treatment options for the symptoms of menopause; and
- General gynecologic surgery, such as hysterectomy, as well as procedures using minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and endometrial ablation.
Obstetrical care includes:
- Prenatal care, labor management and delivery by dedicated physicians and nurses;
- On-site prenatal ultrasound service;
- Options for prepared childbirth classes, breastfeeding classes, sibling touch classes, and infant/child CPR;
- Sale and rental of breast pumps;
- Delivery services at UT Southwestern University Hospital and Parkland Memorial Hospital; and
- Referral of high-risk problems to UT Southwestern specialists in maternal-fetal medicine.
Tours of our maternity facilities are available on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. and the fourth Sunday of each month at 1:30 p.m. For more information, please call 214-645-1545.
