Welcome to Wen-hong Li Group Page
The Li group is part of the Cell Biology Department at UT Southwestern, a rich learning environment with outstanding colleagues and state-of-the-art facilities. My research centers around islet biology and diabetes. We combine diverse techniques including molecular and cellular biology, molecular engineering and chemical synthesis, as well as animal physiology to study islet cells both in vitro and in vivo. I run a relatively small laboratory (4 - 6 people) with focused research objectives. This ensures that I can interact frequently with each of the people in my group. I encourage independent thinking, catalyze collaboration by matching people with complementary skills to increase productivity within my group.
Our lab has weekly group meetings, during which a single lab member presents his/her latest findings. At these meetings, we discuss both successes and failures and try to bring out incongruities that might lead to new discoveries. Scientific communication is a critical skill and I work with my group members to help them master the essential skills of manuscript preparation and writing, grantsmanship, and effective communication. To apply for a postdoctoral fellow or research associate position, please firstname.lastname@example.org me your CV and a statement of your research goals.
