Medical School

Class of 1972: Richard D. Sontheimer, M.D. was designated a Master of the American College of Rheumatology, one of the highest honors the College bestows. The designation is given in recognition of those who have made outstanding contributions to the ACR and the field of rheumatology through scholarly achievement and/or service to their patients, students, and profession.

Housestaff

Jeffrey E. Janis, M.D. (Plastic Surgery), has been elected President of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. In addition to training at UT Southwestern, Dr. Janis was also on the UTSW Department of Plastic Surgery faculty for 10 years before joining the faculty at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Irving M. Pike, M.D. (Internal Medicine/Gastroenterology) has been elected as the new President of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). Dr. Pike also serves as the SVP and CMO at John Muir Health in Contra Costa County, California.
