Dr. Mary “Catie” Collins’ international mission trips have cultivated her love for working with underserved children.

Dr. Keerthan Somanath: MT “Pepper” Jenkins Outstanding Medical Student Award in Anesthesiology and Pain Management

 

Armed with an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, Dr. Keerthan Somanath helped develop an algorithm and software to analyze speech signals for which he holds a copyright.

Dr. Daniel Condie and Dr. Kara Pretzlaff: Award of Excellence in Dermatology

 

The award is given to the graduating medical student who has advanced dermatological patient care, research, or teaching in a special way, or who shows promise for leadership in these areas.

Promising pediatrician Dr. Laurie Seidel receives Ho Din Award, Kurt Ian Wey, M.D. Senior Pediatric Award, and the Rolland C. Reynolds Pathology Award

 

Young Dr. Seidel – who grew up in Farmers Branch and graduated from Greenhill School in Addison – came around to medicine during her undergraduate years at Emory University.

From the time she was young, Dr. Elizabeth Sloan knew she did not want to pursue medicine. During her sophomore year in college, however, her life took a dramatic change of course that led to a change of heart.

Dr. Dinara Triantafyllou: North Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians Award for Outstanding Medical Student in Psychiatry

 

Her skills, enthusiasm, and experiences led Dr. Triantafyllou to be honored as recipient of the 2015 North Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians Award for Outstanding Medical Student in Psychiatry.

Dr. Sally Dierschke: Minnie Lee Lancaster, M.D., Scholarship Award in Family Medicine

 

Some future physicians develop empathy by watching their elders provide care for people. Dr. Sally Dierschke, on the other hand, may have been first moved toward health care by the attention her father selflessly provided to livestock.
