BICF foundational services include curated databases, software pipelines, educational programs, and helpdesk consults. These services are offered to the research community at any time and as needed. These foundational services are available whether or not an entity has formally engaged the BICF.
There is an increasing number of cancer research resources available in public repositories such as Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA); however, appropriate use of these resources remains a challenge for the research community.
Public resources are often scattered, organized in different formats with various quality, and usually require specialized expertise to process. To solve these problems, the BICF will develop a centralized infrastructure with professionally curated and processed public datasets and intuitive-to-use tools.
The Bioinformatics Core Facility specializes in NGS data analysis providing collaborators front to end support from experimental design, data quality assessment, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
