BICF’s mission is to raise awareness and competence in data analysis issues. As part of this mission, we provide the Bioinformatics Fellows Program and a tiered program of educational offerings.
- Seminar Series communicate the most current developments in bioinformatics, and computational and systems biology. Invited guests present every second and fourth Monday in a computational and systems biology series, followed by a lunch with the speaker. Additionally, there are monthly journal clubs that cover a broad range of topics in bioinformatics.
- Nanocourses offer in-depth training in theory and application of particular bioinformatics tools. These trainings typically last 1-2 days and contain hands-on practicums.
- BICF/BioHPC Training Sessions take place each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in seminar room NL06.215. BICF core staff and UTSW researchers present a user showcase or other topics in bioinformatics every fourth every fourth Wednesday of the month in a Bioinformatics Topics series.
- Bioinformatics Help Desk is available for one consultation hour at no charge. A core function of the BICF, the Help Desk raises bioinformatics competence of the UTSW research community through project-specific consultation, and assistance with study design, data analysis, and grant applications.
