Dr. Alan Dackiw Becomes Director of Faculty Development

Alan Dackiw, M.D., Ph.D., M.B.A.

The Department of Surgery would like to announce that Alan Dackiw, M.D., Ph.D., M.B.A., will become our new director of faculty development. In this role, he will lead department efforts for faculty engagement, development, and mentoring while overseeing our Faculty Development Series. 

Many of you know Dr. Dackiw for his expertise in endocrine surgery. He is also a skilled administrator who has been heavily involved in the teaching mission of the department. For the last six years, he has directed our endocrine surgery fellowship and ground rounds curriculum. He is the associate director for the surgery clerkship and course director for the surgery intern preparation course. In addition, he earned a master’s degree in health care management from the University of Texas in Dallas.
 
As the new head of faculty development, Dr. Dackiw will help maintain our high standards for research, teaching, and patient care. His appointment comes at an exciting time at UT Southwestern and coincides with the expansion of our campus and surgical services.
