Children’s Clinical Research Advisory Committee (CCRAC) Early Career Research Award
Dr. Khushbu Patel, Assistant Professor of Pathology, has received the Children’s Clinical Research Advisory Committee (CCRAC) Early Career Research Award. Her project titled “Assessment of alpha-fetoprotein glycosylation in malignant and nonmalignant pediatric conditions using high resolution mass spectrometry” has been funded at the amount of $150,000. The major goal of this project is to develop a mass spectrometry based clinical assay that measures AFP glycan heterogeneity in serum, and determine its utility in the management of hepatoblastoma and yolk sac tumors, two common AFP secreting pediatric cancers.
Dr. Dinesh Rakheja, Associate Professor of Pathology and Pediatrics, and Dr. Patricia Jones, Professor of Pathology are co-investigators/scientific mentors on the project.
