Melanie Truong, D.O., selected for International Headache Academy

 

Dr. Melanie Truong has been selected to attend the American Headache Society 2018 International Headache Academy. The three-day intensive training program is designed to inspire a long-term commitment to Headache Medicine in young neurologists and research scientists. Dr. Truong is a fourth-year neurology resident.

Neuroimaging Symposium on January 26

 

Learn about the research collaborations between the Peter O'Donnell Jr. Brain Institute at UT Southwestern and the University of Texas at Dallas that use neuroimaging to gain more insight into brain and spine disorders. The Neuroimaging Symposium will be held at UTSW's T. Boone Pickens Auditorium from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dr. Kyle Blackburn named James T. Lubin Fellow

 

Adult Neurology Chief Resident Dr. Kyle Blackburn has been selected as a 2018-2019 Transverse Myelitis Association James T. Lubin Fellow. This program supports the post-residency training of clinicians committed to careers in academic medicine specializing in rare neuro-immune disorders of the central nervous system.

Dr. Jaya Trivedi chosen for American Academy of Neurology leadership program

 

Dr. Jaya Trivedi has been selected for the American Academy of Neurology’s Transforming Leaders Program. Dr. Trivedi was chosen for her accomplishments as a neuromuscular specialist and medical director of the UT Southwestern Neurology Clinic.

Dr. Laura Lacritz receives 2017 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award

 

Laura Lacritz, Ph.D., Professor of Psychiatry, Neurology & Neurotherapeutics, is one of six UT Southwestern faculty members named recipients of the 2017 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award.

Neurology to provide services at new health care campus in Frisco

 

Our department will provide neurological care at a new Collin County health care campus planned to open in late 2019. The acute care hospital and multi-specialty clinic complex is a collaboration between Texas Health Resources and UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Robin Novakovic named Chair-Elect for Stroke Committee

 

Dr. Robin Novakovic was named Chair-Elect for the Stroke Committee of the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council. The Stroke Committee is responsible for development of an Acute Stroke System Plan and regional guidelines.

Paula Hardeman, P.A., published in JAMA Neurology

 

Paula Hardeman, P.A., is lead author of an article published this month in JAMA Neurology. The article discusses the integration of advanced practice providers in neurology clinical settings.

DaiWai Olson, Ph.D., R.N., elected to Southwest Academy of Teachers

 

DaiWai Olson, Ph.D., R.N., was elected to the UT Southwestern Academy of Teachers (SWAT) for his outstanding commitment as an educator. SWAT encompasses a group of elite UTSW educators who strive to provide an academic and organizational environment that fosters excellence in teaching at all levels.
