New Faculty and Promotions

Congratulations to our recent Faculty Promotions

 

We would like to congratulate our faculty members who were recently promoted. Marconi Abreu, M.D., Sadia Ali, M.D., Jaime Almandoz, M.D., Uma Gunasekaran, M.D., and Kyaw Soe, M.D., were all promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor. 

Welcome to the team, Dr. Vora

 

Dr. Amy Vora is originally from Arkansas and received her internal medicine training at the University Of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Due to her interest in managing challenging endocrine diagnoses and helping a growing population of patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, she completed a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She has an interest in Type 1 Diabetes, Gestational Diabetes and Reproductive Endocrine Disorders. Dr. Vora’s interests outside of medicine include running, hiking, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Lingvay promoted to Professor

 

Dr. Ildiko Lingvay has been promoted to Professor of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology. Dr. Pascual has secondary appointments in Clinical Sciences. Her research focus is on Metabolic Syndromes, Obesity, and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

Dr. Esparza joins the Endocrinology team

 

Dr. Maria Esparza is originally from Chicago but grew up in Mexico. She received her medical training at Universidad Autonoma de Aguascalientes and graduated with honors. She completed her internal medicine training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. Esparza pursued her fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at UTSW. During her fellowship, she participated in lipid research and her passion for education and clinical research led her to stay as faculty at UTSW. 

Dr. Tessnow promoted

 

Dr. Alex Tessnow, a faculty member since 2011, was promoted to Associate Professor.
